especially thank everyone who joined us for our truly
remarkable "Homage
to OUM KALTHOUM".
This was definitely a dream realized for myself, as well as
for Joe Nachef, our drummer and orchestra director.
After
an intensive weekend of workshops with myself, our singer
Nadia Tahlmi, and the musicians, our show began at 8:30 pm
to a sold out house of 430. Our 10 piece orchestra, many of
whom rank among the most consummate professionals in the
world of oriental music today, brought to life the timeless
music of Oum Kalthoum, Mohamed Abdel Wahab, Abdel Halim
Hafiz and Farid al Atrache. 12
of Montreal's loveliest dancers skillfully transformed these
classics into the magic of movement, while Nadia put the
finishes touches on an unforgettable evening.
For
those of you who could not attend, we are happy to announce
that a DVD of the performance is now available and reviews
are coming shortly. OUM

Surtout,
je remercie tous qui ont pu nous rejoindre pour notre "Hommage
à OUM KALTHOUM".
C'était vraiment la réalisation d'une rêve très chère
pour moi, ainsi que Joe Nachef notre percussionniste et chef
d'orchestre.
A
la fin d'un week-end des stages avec moi, notre chanteuse
Nadia Tahlmi et les musiciens, notre
spectacle a commencé à 20h30 pour une salle
complète de 430 personnes! L'orchestre de 10, avec
quelques
professionnels exceptionnels dans le monde de la musique
orientale, ont fait vivre de nouveau la musique éternelle
de Oum Kalthoum, Mohamed Abdel Wahab, Abdel Halim Hafiz and
Farid al Atrache. Une
douzaine des plus somptueuses danseuses du Montréal ont
transformé ses classiques en la magie de mouvement pendant
que Nadia a rajouté la touche final à la soirée.
Pour
ceux qui voudraient garder un bel souvenir de la soirée, ou
même, ceux qui n'ont pas pu nous rejoindre, nous sommes
heureuses d'annoncer que le DVD
du spectacle OUM KALTHOUM est disponible maintenant.

SECRETS
of the STARS II
Apr 14-15, Montreal
I am off on January 3rd, beginning with a
week-long dance retreat in the Tropical Paradise of Bali,
and on to a wonderful tour through Australia and New
Zealand, then on to a US tour including Rakkasah West in
California, Olympia, Vancouver, Washington and Idaho, before
returning home on April 2nd, just in time for my next
workshop/show "Secrets of the Stars II" April
14-15th.
We all had so much fun with the first
workshop in November and wanted to explore the technique and styles of some
other great Egyptian dancers, that a second workshop was
inevitable.
Our show will present many of my wonderful
students performing to some of the choreographies that we
have been working on since my arrival to Montreal.
We are also planning some great solos
featuring the styles of some of these Great Egyptian Dancers
who have been so fundamental in the evolution of our
beautiful art form.

SECRETS
des STARS II
14-15 Avril, Montréal
Je
pars en tournée le 3 janvier, débutant avec ma retraite de
danse au paradis tropical du Bali, suivi par Australie et
Nouvelle Zélande en terminant avec les EU qui comprit
Rakkasah en Californie, Washington et Idaho. Je reviens le 2
avril, tout juste pour notre spectacle " Soirée des
Stars " et ateliers " Secrets des Stars-II "
le 14 à 15 avril.
 Les
premiers ateliers en
Novembre si bien passés que j’ai décidé de
présenter la suite « II »
pour continuer l'exploration des techniques et
style d’autres grandes vedettes
de la danse Egyptienne.
Pour
notre spectacle mes chères élèves se présent un
éventail de mes chorégraphies, ainsi que des solos qui
reflètent les grandes danseuses Egyptiennes qui étaient
fondamental dans l'évolution de notre art si belle.
